Resources

We are sharing resources that we created ourselves for First Lego League.

We hope you will find this material to be useful.

STEP 1: The first step in any season is to plan our your runs and what missions you will work on. We look at the Challenge Release Document carefully. Then we either use our Interactive Sketch Planner or the Strategy Worksheet to draw out each run. We meet and discuss our ideas and combine all our ideas. This might change during the season because once you start to build and program, you might find it easier to go a different route or combine missions in a different way. Remember to be flexible.

STEP 2: Once you have a strategy in place, it is time to split up the roles. Who will work on what missions? Who wants to program and build? We use our Roles & Responsibilities Worksheet.

STEP 3: Use the Mission Planning Worksheet to write Pseudocode out for your missions.

STEP 4: If you don't know how to code what you want, it is time to learn. Use the Lessons on this site if you like the way we teach. There are some alternative sources as well: Programming Books, Videos (e.g., WAFFLES Robotics YouTube videos and CMU Video Trainer).

STEP 5: While you are working on the missions, don't forget Core Values and Research. Set up a timeline and checklist for your team. Also, remember to document your season using an engineering journal.
